Canada Express Entry (EE) Immigration Program
Express Entry remains Canada’s main immigration program. It is well known to be the fastest and most popular. Candidates that apply through the Express Entry system can receive permanent residence status as soon as six months, or more or less. EE has 3 major streams through which applicants can apply;
We’ll be highlighting the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW) as the best option for Nigerians immigrating from overseas (outside Canada). The FSWP allows candidates with work experience and no connection to Canada or job offer to apply for permanent residence.
Once you confirm you are eligible for the FSWP, you may upload your Express Entry profile onto the website of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Upon uploading their Express Entry profiles, Nigerian candidates receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on their human capital factors such as age, education, work experience, and official language ability among others.
The cost of immigrating to Canada through Express Entry is typically about $2,300 CAD for a single applicant, or about $4,500 CAD for a couple. This does not include the settlement funds that must also be shown as part of the eligibility requirement, which will vary by family size.
Every two weeks, IRCC sends out invitations to apply for permanent residence to the highest scoring candidates in the pool. In addition, IRCC sets a 6-month processing service standard under Express Entry.
The target is for more than 110,000 permanent residents to be admitted through Express Entry by 2024. Together, these elements make Express Entry the most attractive option and the fastest way for economy class candidates to obtain permanent residence in Canada.

Canada Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) offer a pathway for Nigerians who are interested in immigrating to a specific Canadian province or territory.
Through the PNP, provinces, and territories can nominate skilled worker candidates for immigration to their respective jurisdictions.
Nigerian candidates may be able to apply to immigrate to Canada directly through a PNP, provided they meet eligibility criteria. They may also enter the Express Entry pool and be invited to apply for nomination by a province that will select candidates from the federal pool. If they are nominated through an Express Entry-linked stream, they will receive an additional 600 CRS points. This means they are virtually guaranteed to receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence (ITA) in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
The cost of immigrating to Canada through a PNP is usually the same as Express Entry, with some additional fees, depending on the province. Certain provinces don’t charge a fee to process PNP applications, while others, such as Ontario, can charge up to $1,500 CAD.
Canada is a federal country with 10 provinces and three territories, the majority of which administer the PNP. The program allows each province and territory, with its own population and economy, to design immigration pathways based on its economic and demographic needs. This includes the following:

Immigrating to Canada through Visiting Visa
To put it simply; this is illegal. Yes, we are aware that a lot of Nigerians try to migrate by converting their visiting visas to a work permits in Canada. But if you are stranded in Canada for whatever reason then there are provisions for you. You’ll need an immigration attorney to assist you.

Everything Canada can be verified on official channels. Including your eligibility for programs that are meant for other nationalities. If it’s verified then you are good.
- The “Pay After Visa” Trick: Anyone asking you to pay for their service(s) only after the visa is out, is most likely going to scam you. How Could They? You ask? Well, we’ve had instances where clients are pay after they’ve gotten their Canada Visa only to discovered that it was doctored and they were given a fake Visa.
- Limited family Package: When you hear offers that Canada only takes 4 or specific number of family members, you are most likely being scammed.
- The Magic Job Offer: When you get a quick job offer from a company that isn’t verifiable or isn’t on any Canada Employer’s list or the job offer itself offers insane salaries, which doesn’t represent the Canadian Labour standard. You are most likely being scammed.
- Migrate to Canada in 2-3months: This ought to be an instant red flag.
